The Steel Town 20

Location: Consett, Derwent Valley & Surrounding Areas

When: Saturday 31 August 2024

Time: 8:15am onwards

Ran by Consett Hiking Group, The Steel Town 20 is an annual walk which takes in some of the most beautiful parts of Derwentside.

Walkers will follow the fully marshalled route out of Consett and westwards up the Derwent Valley as far as Crooked Oak before heading back towards the Derwent Manor Hotel. After a stop here (8 miles) we drop down and follow the river along to Blackhall Mill (14 miles) before heading up onto the Derwent Walk and heading back to Consett, finishing at the Rugby Club (20 miles).

Participants can choose to do 8, 14 or the full 20 miles.

This walk is NOT a race. It is led at the front and route marshals accompany walkers throughout.

Entrants meet at Consett Rugby Club from 8.15am onwards to register for a 9am start. Parking is available at the rugby club and adjoining car park.

After the walk food will be served at the Rugby Club in the community Marquee. There will be a wildlife photography and heritage art exhibition plus music to entertain participants into the night.

Entry fee is £20.00 per person and includes food and entertainment afterwards. Food buffet style suitable for all.

No refunds or transfers allowed under any circumstances.

All participants are required to view the Event Disclaimer / Terms and Conditions before signing up.
