Willow Burn Hospice offers Duke of Edinburgh placements for people aged 14 upwards and school work experience placements.
We are able to offer placements in:
Retail (Stanley, Consett and Chester-le-Street)
Café Service (The Willows Café, Lanchester)
Working Hours
We are guided on the number of hours you are able to work by Durham County Council - the guidance can be viewed here: Employment of Children
Following your placement, you would also be welcome to join our volunteering team permanently or until your career takes you on a new path.
Applying for a Placement
You can apply for a placement by completing the volunteering application form. Our Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Fundraising & Marketing will then contact you to discuss what you need to complete your placement successfully and to confirm that Willow Burn is able to help.
