Walk for Wellbeing

Location: Lanchester Village Green

When: Sunday 19 October 2025

Time: 10am

In 2025 we're inviting our supporters to 'Walk for Wellbeing' with Willow Burn Hospice.

One of the best things we can do for our mental health and wellbeing is to be active – it's a natural mood booster.

Our bodies release feel-good hormones when we're active that can also reduce anxiety and stress, and help us sleep better.

Following the success of our previous 'Walk's for Wellbeing' our next Autumnal walk will be led by Keiron Young from Consett Hiking Group and founder of the Heritage 100 Project.

When: Sunday 19 October 2025 meeting at 10am
Where: Newbiggen Lane entrance to Lanchester Valley Railway Path
Distance: 8.2 km (5.095 miles)
Registration Fee: £5.00 per adult, £2.50 per child, dogs free
Fundraising Pledge: Raise whatever you can

This is a family event, children and dogs welcome.

'Walks for Wellbeing' isn't just about supporting your Local Hospice. It is about you, your health and social connections. There are so many benefits of walking including -

Improve fitness: Walking with friends, family, your dogs and walking groups encourages you to be more active.

Relieve stress:  Walking is a great way to zone-out and rid yourself of stress.

Lower blood pressure: Being active can help to prevent high blood pressure.

Discover new places: Explore your local area and find beautiful locations along the way.

Improve mental wellbeing: Build a social connection with other walkers.

Walk and play with your dog: Have fun playing with your dog while getting in your daily miles.

When you sign up for our 'Walk for Wellbeing', you will be sent a link to create an online fundraising page which you can personalise. It couldn’t be easier: set your fundraising target, send the page to your loved ones (or share it on social media) and encourage people to donate online in a few clicks.

So, what are you waiting for, pull on those walking shoes! You can explore your local area, improve your mental wellbeing whilst making new friends and seeing some familiar faces, knowing every step you take will help the nursing and care team at Willow Burn provide the very best care to people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families when they truly need it.
