Ran by Consett Hiking Group, The Steel Town 20 is an annual walk which takes in some of the most beautiful parts of Derwentside.
Entrants will meet at Consett Rugby Club from 8.15am onwards to register for a 9am start.
Participants can choose to do 11 miles or the full 20 miles.
Parking at the rugby club and adjoining car park.
This walk is NOT a race. It is led at the front and route marshals accompany walkers throughout.
There has been a change to the route in 2025 though we still use some parts of the previous route. We make our way down to Allensford and then follow paths up to the village of Whittonstall, stopping at The Anchor Pub. This is the halfway point and our ONLY stop. From here, we head back down towards Ebchester and along to East Law before meeting the Derwent Walk and heading back up to the Rugby Club. We will make the route available to download in due course.
Afterwards participants will be fed at the Rugby Club in the community Marquee.
Entry fee of £20.00 includes food and entertainment afterwards. Food buffet style suitable for all.
No refunds or transfers allowed under any circumstances.
All participants are required to view the Event Disclaimer / Terms and Conditions before signing up.
