The snow didn't stop Willow Burn supporters when they raised over £26,000 at its biggest fundraising event this year when it held its annual ball on Friday 10 March at Beamish Hall Hotel.

The sell-out black tie event was hosted by presenter, artist and singer Alfie Joey and featured dinner, music from Borderland, a live auction and the Diamond Raffle sponsored by Berry’s Newcastle, to raise money for the hospice.

The night kicked off with a word from David Barker, Director at Willow Burn, followed by "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" by Alfie. Following a delicious three-course meal, there was a live auction with a special prize straight from the celebrity jungle and an luxurious prize donated by Aston Martin Newcastle.

Rachel Todd, Head of Fundraising and Marketing at Willow Burn Hospice said: “Such a fabulous night with very special supporters.

Events like this are very important to the future of hospice care in Derwentside. Not only do they raise much needed funds but they also shine a spotlight on the vital services our teams can provide to people living with a life limiting illness and their families - it is so important that people know the services which are available to them at end of life."

A very big thank you to all our sponsors, auction prize donors and everyone who contributed by attending – including: Berry’s Jewellers, Caremore Services, Industrial Workwear and UrbanBase.”
