Tyler Holmes' Great North Run for his Grandad

Tyler Holmes is a pro when it comes to the Great North Run but this year, his ninth run, will be very special as he runs it in memory of his Grandad.

"My name is Tyler Holmes and this will be my ninth Great North Run I have ran since my first one in 2011. However, this one will mean the most as I am running for Willow Burn Hospice who looked after my Grandad, Tony Black, during his final days in November last year.

Sadly, he passed away less than 3 weeks after his wife and my nana, Joyce Black's death in October last year. Tony was in Willow Burn for about a week, but the care he received during this short time was incredible. The support we also received as a family meant so much and Willow Burn will always have a place in our hearts.

Thank you for everything you did to care for Tony, my family and the incredible work you continue to do each day. See you on finish line, hopefully."

Good Luck Tyler. Thank you for sharing your Great North Run story - Team Willow Burn are behind you every step of the way.
