On 5 December, Willow Burn Hospice welcomed friends from across Derwentside when we hosted our annual Light Up a Life service at All Saints Parish Church in Lanchester.
For over 15 years, Willow Burn’s Light Up a Life service has given local people the chance to remember loved ones in the run up to Christmas, whilst helping to support the vital work of the nursing and care team. The service was supported by all three of the villages churches, as well as Lanchester Young Singers, who were a very special addition to proceedings. At the end of the service, guests were invited to write a message to their loved ones on a Willow Burn bauble, which are now adorning Christmas Trees at the hospice.
This year’s appeal raised over £7000, which will fund four days of care in the Helen McArdle In-Patient Wing, giving support to many patients, and their families, when they need it the most.
The team at Willow Burn would like to make special thanks to: Reverend Lesley Sutherland, Curate Stephen Martin and all at All Saints Parish Church, Helen McArdle CBE, Reverend Stuart Earl, Reverend Father Cornelius O’Connor, Lanchester Young Singers, Michael Quigley and Matthew Hill, dwmedia and all of the Willow Burn volunteers who helped on the day of the service.
