On Sunday 25 December, the costs to operate the Helen McArdle In-Patient Wing have been donated by Crescent Homecare in loving memory of Jean Taylor. Over the last two years, Crescent Homecare has raised a fantastic £11,203.75 for their local hospice

Here is Crescent Homecare's story:

Crescent Homecare was established in 1997 by Jean Taylor our dear Mam. The company is a domiciliary care agency that provides care to people in their own homes. When we started out there was just the three of us, our Mam, Debra Robey and Geraldine Raggatt and we had two service users based in Langley Park and covered the Derwentside areas.  Very sadly on 13th June 2003 our Mam lost her battle to cancer but she sincerely wanted Crescent Homecare to carry on. She always said 'the most important thing was the quality of care given to our service users and having the right people to deliver that'. Debra and Geraldine have worked so hard to uphold their Mam’s belief’s and Crescent Homecare for the past 25 years has been delivering care in County Durham to service users. We work with an award-winning team and it would not be possible without them, we have won numerous awards and are rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, we are in the top 5% in the country. We now employ 70 homecare workers and care for 170 service users in County Durham.

We support Willow Burn as it is our local hospice, it is very close to our hearts and over the past years our service users, friends and family have spent their last days at Willow Burn. In the past we have supported other national charities but decided that in the future we would support our local hospice as they support and provide services to local people which we think is very important. We have visited Willow Burn on many occasions and find everyone very friendly and we think it is a beautiful peaceful place to visit.

Our thoughts are if a person is unable to spend their last days at home with loved ones at their side then Willow Burn offers home from home care in the most peaceful and dignified surroundings. We all feel that Willow Burn is such a special place.

We support Willow Burn with our fundraising activities we understand that Willow Burn need support and every penny counts to help them provide the excellent services they offer. We have done lots of fundraising and challenges to raise money for the hospice including abseiling, walking over hot coals, walking challenges, coffee mornings, raffles and other fundraising activities.

We are partners of Willow Burn and that is really important to us. Willow Burn can offer our company training and also we have used their bereavement services. Willow Burn ensures we feel valued and we feel we have had their support every step of the way during the last 2 years. We feel truly privileged to be able to work with such a wonderful team.

A huge thank you to Crescent Homecare for supporting Willow Burn Hospice, we are thrilled to announce that this wonderful team have chosen to support us again in 2023.
