If you would like to give the gift that keeps on giving this Christmas, have a look at our range of fundraising ideas to get you in the festive spirit and support your Local Hospice.

If you would like to fundraise for Willow Burn this Christmas or you would like to make a pledge to get involved in 2022, contact Selina Mankin at: smankin@willowburnhospice.org.uk / 01207 529 224.

Christmas wrapping service
Get Christmas all wrapped up by running a Christmas present wrapping service at school or in the office.   Colleagues and friends can make a donation to Willow Burn Hospice and have their Christmas presents wrapped, no matter how big, small or funny shaped.  Why not combine it with a charity Christmas Fair to make it extra festive.

Karaoke Carols
One for your work Christmas party! Sponsor colleagues to get up and sing Christmas classics from Bing Crosby, Slade, or Wham.  Or why not host The Xmas Factor and audition colleagues in front of a panel of managers, to go through to the grand final?  Family, friends, and colleagues can purchase tickets and all proceeds go to Willow Burn Hospice.

DIY Christmas Jumper Day
A festive twist on a beloved Christmas tradition.  Everyone loves a Christmas jumper, but why not have a go at making your own.  Recycle an old sweater from home, or better still, pop into one of Willow Burn’s charity shops and upcycle a pre-loved jumper and cover it with festive baubles, lights (battery powered of course) and decorations.  Why not host a Christmas jumper decorating contest at work or at school before the Christmas holidays and have prizes for the best dressed jumpers?  Charge a fee to enter and donate the proceeds to Willow Burn.

Declutter for Good
Make space for all of those new Christmas presents by donating your pre-loved stuff to a Willow Burn Hospice Charity Shop? You could even get friends and family to do the same.

Christmas Card and Decoration Making
Do you have some talented artists and crafters at your school or college?  Ask them to make Christmas decorations or design Christmas cards in art class to sell on a stall at a Christmas Fair or to sell to parents at home.  Get creative by using recycled materials from around school or college or ask students to bring in pre-used Christmas decorations from home and give them a new lease of life.

Desk Decorating Competition
A great way to make your office look festive and raise money for charity at the same time.  Ask colleagues to bring in old Christmas decorations from home and put them in a big box in the centre of your office.  Colleagues have a set amount of time to decorate their desks using pre-loved treasures they pull out of the box and prizes can be awarded for the best dressed desks.  Anyone who enters pays an entry fee to take part and their desk will look festive in the run up to Christmas.

Master (School) Chef Christmas Dinner Challenge – students are split into three teams to cook a three-course Christmas dinner for parents.  Each group is responsible for cooking a course within a specific time to serve to parents in the school hall.  Why not combine it with a Christmas themed quiz afterwards and find out who can name all nine of Santa’s reindeer or all the gifts in The Twelve Days of Christmas.

 Unwanted Christmas Present Sale

We all receive a present at Christmas that while gratefully received, we won’t use or wear.  Instead of putting it on a shelf or at the back of a cupboard to gather dust, why not have an ‘unwanted Christmas present’ sale or tombola at work or at school/college.  Your unwanted gift could be the prefect Christmas present for someone next Christmas.

Alternatively, donate your unwanted Christmas presents to one of Willow Burn’s charity shops.  It might find it’s forever home and will raise vital funds for your local hospice.

Host a Willow Burn Pop-Up Shop

The team at Willow Burn can provide you with an array of Willow Burn merchandise including Christmas Cards, diaries, pin badges and so much more. Just give Rachel a call to organise: 01207 529 224

Donate to charity instead of sending Christmas cards or doing Secret Santa

The easiest way to fundraise during the festive period is to make a donation to charity instead of sending out Christmas cards.  You can make a donation at Willow Burn Hospice or on our website https://willow-burn.co.uk/donate

Buy charity Christmas cards

If you prefer to spread festive cheer by sending your loved ones a Christmas card, Willow Burn’s charity Christmas cards are now available to purchase online, at Willow Burn Hospice or from one of our shops.  All proceeds will fund hospice care in North Durham.
