On Friday 17 July, family, friends and fellow golfers came together once again for the annual Tony Black Memorial Golf Day and together raised an incredible £1,165 for Willow Burn Hospice.

Tony spent his final days at Willow Burn before passing away in November 2021. A passionate golfer and much-loved member of Beamish Park Golf Club, Tony's warmth, friendship and love of the game left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

In the years since his passing, Tony's incredible family and friends have continued to honour his memory through fundraising efforts that support local hospice care. The annual memorial golf day has become a special occasion, bringing together those closest to Tony to celebrate his life while making a difference to others.

We were delighted to be invited along once again and it was clear that the day remains a heartfelt tribute to Tony. Throughout the event, family and friends shared stories, laughter and fond memories, reflecting on the man who meant so much to so many.

The £1,165 raised will help Willow Burn continue to provide palliative and end-of-life care, as well as vital support for patients and their families across Derwentside.

Our sincere thanks go to Tony's family and friends for their continued support and commitment to Willow Burn Hospice. The Memorial Golf Day is much more than a fundraising event; it is a celebration of Tony's life, friendships and love of golf. We are incredibly grateful that his legacy continues to bring people together while helping us provide care and comfort to families across Derwentside.
