Willow Burn Wood is truly unique; a treasured place. The first woodland to be newly created by a charity in support of their work and close to the communities they serve. Willow Burn Wood has been made possible by Sir Tom Cowie whose personal gift of the land enabled the planning and creation of this wood.
Willow Burn Wood is near Allensford in County Durham, an idyllic location, tranquil yet accessible; home to deer and a host of other wildlife and flora. A life affirming environment.
Every one of the trees planted will be treasured and represent a unique individual, life event or birth. You, your family, friends and loved ones can all become part of this living symbol.
Willow Burn Wood will rapidly attract insects on vegetation between growing trees. These in turn will help to attract birds such as skylarks, meadow pipits and linnets. As a habitat, native woodland contains more threatened species that any other habitat in the UK. By creating this new wood; alongside existing wildlife habitats we will help protect and connect our locally fragmented woods.
