Purpose of this Volunteer Role

To create a welcoming atmosphere to all who use and visit the Day Hospice

To respect and support the Day Hospice team in delivering a high quality service to patients, family and visitors to the Day Hospice

To work under the guidance of the Day Hospice team.

 

Task Description:

    • Meet and greet users and visitors
    • Answer switchboard and redirecting calls
    • Open and log post, ensuring it reaches the appropriate person
    • Frank outgoing post
    • General admin tasks e.g. Laminating, typing, filling envelopes
    • Assist fund raising team e.g. With collection boxes
    • Prepare board room/day room for meetings/activities
    • When appropriate, assist with ‘Willows’ coffee shop
    • Keep the Reception area clean, organised and tidy
    • Be an ambassador for Willow Burn

 

Person Specification for Day Hospice, Patient Care Volunteer

    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Clear communication skills
    • Good organisational skills
    • Team player
    • Ability to carry out tasks to specific standards
    • Tact & diplomacy in dealing with a variety of situations
    • Self-aware and able to use initiative
    • Be well presented both in dress and manner
    • Ensure privacy and confidentiality of Day Hospice patients
    • Good understanding of equality and diversity
