Role: Donation Collections Volunteer

Location: Various locations across Derwentside

Hours and Times: Flexible

Team Leader: Income Generation and Community Engagement Officer

Role Description

To work with staff, volunteers and local supporters to ensure the regular and safe collection of donations in the local community. Acting as an ambassador for when acting on Willow Burn’s behalf.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide copies of up to date MOT and insurance certificates to the volunteer Services Manager
  • Register their vehicle as business use with their insurance provider to ensure the driver is covered in the event of any accident
  • Liaise with the Community Fundraising Team to arrange collections and drop offs
  • Ensure any collection tins are handed over with the security seal intact and only opened in the presence of a member of Willow Burn’s staff or volunteering team
  • Work with Community Fundraising Team to ensure all associated spreadsheets and paperwork are kept up to date
  • Any money collected out of business hours must be handled in line with the out of hours cash donation policy
  • Ensure effective communication with all departments to ensure the needs of the organisation are the priority at all times
  • To act as an ambassador for Willow Burn within the local community and reflect the organisation in a positive light at all times

Skills, Experience & Abilities

  • Current clean driver’s license and motor insurance.
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player
  • Good sense of humour
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Tact & diplomacy in dealing with a variety of situations
  • Self awareness and able to use initiative
  • Caring and compassionate approach
  • Good understanding of equality and diversity
