Hospice supporters hit new heights for Willow Burn.

On Saturday 7th April a group of intrepid supporters braved the elements and made their way to Infinity and Beyond all to raise funds for Willow Burn Hospice.

The Challenge: Walk across a 393 foot bridge. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Add in the good old British weather, being 2000 feet above the ground and the fact that the “bridge” is actually a very thin wire and now you have a challenge!

The group of 24, including several staff members from Willow Burn, pushed themselves to the limit, conquered their fears and felt the thrill as they stood on top of the world! We are proud to announce that over £6,000 has been pledged so far with money still coming in.

Senior Fundraiser Jackie Pigford said” It was such an amazing event, we wanted to do something different that hadn’t been done before and when we found the Infinity Bridge we thought it was a brilliant idea. People picked up on it really quickly and to get 24 people along was amazing. It’s exciting to see all the monies raised coming in to.”

Participant Lorraine Murray said “I did the Sky Walk as part of a challenge from my 50 new things to do in my 50’s and raise money in order to support Willow Burn as I believe that it is a fantastic local hospice that provides much needed services in our community. Doing the Sky Walk was a challenge for me personally but that’s the point isn’t it! The experience was amazing, very rewarding and I would encourage anyone to give it a go”

This event was a huge success for Willow Burn Hospice and will return in 2019 along with a similar challenge!

If you have been inspired to take part or if you would like information about the additional challenge then email Jackie on jpigford@willowburnhospice.org.uk to reserve your place.
